Dublin Canvas 2021 - Iseult, Chapelizod Dublin
This piece is based on the story of Tristan and Iseult/Isolde. Iseult was an Irish princess , rumoured to be buried in Chapelizod. The name itself 'Séipéal Iosóid' means 'Iseult's Chapel'

Iseult was promised to an Cornish King, who sent one of his knights to collect her. Iseult's mother had made her a 'fíorghrá' potion, to drink with her new husband, so as to lessen the blow by having her fall into 'true love'.

However Iseult drank this potion on the journey back with the King's nephew, knight Tristan, and Cupid's arrow struck. Although she did marry King Mark, Tristan and Iseult were madly in love, causing them all sorts of trouble.

Just down the street you will find Tristan and Isolde Square and a street named Isolde Gardens, another nice nod to this myth
